The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), has reaffirmed its commitment to oil exploration in northern Nigeria, contrary to rumors of a suspension.

Its Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Olufemi Soneye, who gave the assurance yesterday, said NNPCL in compliance with the Petroleum Industry Act, (PIA), is leaving no stone unturned to continue oil drilling projects in the North after decades of exploration in the South.
He stated that the company is intensifying efforts to enhance the countrys OPEC quota and bolster the petroleum industry.
According ti him, notable progress includes the drilling of the Wadi-2 well in Borno State and the Ebenyi-1 well in Nasarawa State.
Soneye emphasised that these efforts align with the PIA and aim to contribute to national energy security.
He further said, “NNPCL’s exploration activities in the Kolmani River II Well have already yielded significant hydrocarbon discoveries. The company remains focused on expanding these efforts, with ongoing infrastructure projects to support further exploration”.
Under the leadership of Chairman Pius Akinyelure and CEO Mele Kyari, NNPCL has achieved record profits, demonstrating resilience and strategic growth. The companys performance continues to attract interest and investment, as it aligns with the federal government’s goal of accelerating economic growth and diversification.
